STATnet sprl closed Net-Trak.
December 7th, 1998

STATSnet sprl is very sorry to announce that Net-Trak will be closing on the 14th of December. From then on STATSnet sprl will serve a transparent image for another 2 weeks so that the webmaster's pages do not show a broken icon. The statistics will be there for another month after closure, but will not be updated.

STATSnet sprl came to this descision for the following reasons. Foremost the slow response time from Net-Trak in the last few weeks, mostly during high traffic hours in the US, due to a severe problem with our linux-server. There are some problems with the communication of the Webserver and the Operating System which is not solvable with any reasonable amount of work. The problem keeps Net-Trak from responding in time to track all your visitors.
The problems came at a time when STATSnet sprl was in the final stages of opening it's new much superior counter service Counted! and the hard descision was made to close Net-Trak rather than continue giving webmasters a bad service.

The new Counter can be found at http://www.counted.com and the registration is free. STATSnet sprl is able to do this because the new tracking architecture is much superior to the one Net-Trak used and they are using a much superior OS ( FreeBSD ) which is also used by Yahoo, ftp.cdrom.com and others.
